The assignment of this course is to reformulate the initial tectonic conjectures to adapt to a slightly altered design scenario, constrained by assigned performance criteria. Each group is asked to transform their selected precedent by transforming the existing shading system into a new one.
To improve the shading and ventilation performance of the precedent, International Baroque Museum designed by Toyo Ito, our group reorganized different orientation and curvature of pre-fabricated sandwich concrete wall panels of the south and west facades. We play with different angles of twisting, different opening directions and different sizes of apertures. Finally, we have one solution that has the best-optimized lighting effect. At the same time, we adjust the original L-shape rebar connection with the curved concrete wall panels, to follow the original structural system of the precedent.
